It is therefore in a spirit of humble thanks that we come to praise the Lord today, conscious of the deep debt we owe Him for His gift of Himself and His Holy Spirit to us. We begin our reflection on Mary and the Holy Spirit by recognizing our many failures to respond as she did to the Spirit's inspirations. We say to the blessed Virgin "Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

Yet we become aware of the lack of love in our lives. We call ourselves Christians, followers of Christ, yet our lives frequently contradict our claim.

Novena to the Holy Spirit

In the same chapter of the letter in which St. John tells us, "God is love", he also reminds us, "If anyone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. We therefore, begin by asking pardon of the Lord for the lack of love in our lives. Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world, pour down into our souls the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Prayers and Devotions. Roman Missal 5.

You are Light; enlighten my mind with the knowledge of eternal things. You are the Dove; give me innocence of life. You are the gentle Breeze; disperse the storms of my passions. You are the Tongue; teach me how to bless You always. You are the Cloud; shelter me under the shadow of Your protection. Act of Contrition - Same as that of Day One 4.

Prayer for Humility - Same as that of Day One 5. Being aware of our resistance to the "Breath of God", the Holy Spirit, let us ask pardon: 3. Lord, have mercy on us. Christ, have mercy on us. Father all-powerful, have mercy on us. Jesus, Eternal Son of the Father, Redeemer of the world, save us.

Novena to the Holy Spirit

Spirit of the Father and the Son, boundless life of both, sanctify us. Holy Trinity, hear us. Holy Spirit, Who proceeds from the Father and the Son, enter our hearts. Holy Spirit, Who are equal to the Father and the Son, enter our hearts. Holy Spirit, come and renew the face of the earth. Holy Spirit, shed Your light in our souls. Holy Spirit, engrave Your law in our hearts. Holy Spirit, inflame us with the flame of Your love. Holy Spirit, open to us the treasures of Your graces.

Holy Spirit, teach us to pray well. Holy Spirit, enlighten us with Your heavenly inspirations. Holy Spirit, lead us in the way of salvation.

A Novena To The Holy Spirit: For His Grace and Heavenly Aid

Holy Spirit, grant us the only necessary knowledge. Holy Spirit, inspire in us the practice of good. Holy Spirit, grant us the merits of all virtues. Holy Spirit, make us persevere in justice. Holy Spirit, be our everlasting reward. No one could possibly love you more than God the Holy Spirit. You have given and received only natural love. God's love is supernatural. His love for you is unlimited. He created you. Just as you are. Just as He wanted you to be. He wants you to know Him. He wants you to be happy and enjoy this world and this life He gave you.

With His gifts, He gives you all you need to accomplish this. He wants to create in you a love for Him that will satisfy every want and desire you have. When Jesus lived on the earth with His disciples, they were content to give up everything to follow Him, just to be near Him. So when it was time for Him to leave they were very upset. He assured them by telling them He would send the Paraclete, the Comforter to be with them and with all of His followers. When He lived as a man He could only be touched and seen and known by as many as humanly possible.

By sending His Spirit He could be present, in Spirit, to all, at all times. The Holy Spirit speaks to you in your thoughts. He prompts or speaks to you in your language, using your grammar and the words you are familiar with and use daily. These thoughts or promptings that come from the Holy Spirit are so natural that unless you are sensitive to His promptings you could easily ignore them or not recognize them as important.

During these nine days reflection on the Holy Spirit, you will pray, meditate, contemplate, ponder, concentrate, reflect, use your imagination and listen. The author has practiced this devotion from the age of five to the present day 76 years.

He has explained this devotion to numerous others who have accepted the information they received from him. Many have been able to apply the devotion to their own lives and are astonished it has not been taught to a greater extent. Those who have been instructed personally by the author have been able to acquire the devotion in a matter of weeks, months or several years, and even surpassed what he himself has experienced. Each day, mull over the thought presented to you, for as long as you can.

Novena to the Holy Spirit Day 1

Read and re- read the day. Each time you get a thought, stop and ponder it. Exhaust it before continuing. Your goal is to listen to your thoughts, not to get through it. Imagine there is no such thing as time. Avoid advancing to the following days in an effort to get new information and ideas to fill in the time and blanks you will have.

This is precisely what kills meditation. Too much information.

Novena to the Holy Spirit Prayers

Remember, you are not trying to find thoughts and answers from the same sources you are accustomed to using, such as reading. You are trying to hear new thoughts from a different source. The Holy Spirit will be putting words in your thoughts. At times the author takes the liberty to talk to you as he believes the Holy Spirit has talked to him.

To receive the full benefit of this Novena the introduction should be re-read at least once a week. I know about you, from what I have been told. To comfort me, be my advocate, sanctify me.

I am ashamed, after all You have done for me, that I have never taken the time to learn how to open my heart and let You in. I failed in the past because I did not realize it is You who must provide me with Your seven spiritual gifts. O Holy Spirit, my curiosity has tempted me to begin reading this second day of my Novena instead of spending this time trying to learn how to listen to Your promptings.

I always know better than my teacher and did not think it would make any difference. In fact, I do not even listen to those who have had the experience of learning how to listen. Remind me, O Holy Spirit, to express my gratitude to You who have given me so much. Amen Seventh Day Heal our wounds, our strength renew; On our dryness pour thy dew; Wash the stains of guilt away.

Let us pray Burn up, O Lord, our reins and our hearts in the fire of the Holy Spirit; that chaste of body and clean of heart, our service may be well pleasing to thee. Amen Eighth Day Bend the stubborn heart and will, Melt the frozen, warm the chill, Guide the steps that go astray. Let us pray Holy Spirit, Spirit of Truth, come into our hearts; give to all peoples the brightness of they light, that they may be well pleasing to thee in unity of faith.

Amen Ninth Day Thou on those who evermore, Thee confess and thee adore, In they sevenfold gift descend. Give them comfort when they die Give them life with thee on high, Give them joys which never end. Let us pray Send down upon us, we beseech thee, O Lord, the Holy Spirit, that, inspired and encouraged by him, we may comply with the duties of our state, carry our daily crosses patiently, and grow daily in Christian perfection. Grant us, we beseech thee through the same Divine Spirit, the intentions of this novena or what is most conducive to our eternal salvation and they glory. Catholic Prayer: Novena to the Holy Spirit.
